In the first volume, everybody had fairly straightforward origins, and there was nothing wrong with them. I think the only significant issue I take with this volume of Young Avengers is that it made everything much more complicated than it needed to be. Luckily for me, there isn't much to forgive. Luckily for Young Avengers, I think I've fallen in love with the entire cast.

I'm willing to forgive a lot in a comic book if it has characters that I really like, written really well. Overall, I'm loving this team and looking forward to reading more about them. I did love Patriot's backstory and I'm hoping I run across more of it in the future. Kate Bishop had not only skills but personality on her side, and the contrast made Cassie and Elijah seem dim in comparison. <-this is how I felt when I closed the book Patriot was a very disgruntled contentious character and Stature was so boring she was almost a non-entity. I hate to say it, but it felt like Stature and Patriot were both throwaway characters that left me feeling rather meh about them. You know, the ones that got reabsorbed into the cosmos when Mephisto via Pandemonium Man came back to claim them as parts of his lost soul?Īnd the second important thing this volume does is set up Teddy for the events in Empyre. Family Matters is the conclusion to this run of the Young Avengers and is important (to me) for two reasons.įirst, we finally meet Speed, and they discover that he and Billy are reincarnated versions of the Scarlet Witch's twins.
